If you read You Were Born Awake, you already know this space isn’t about fixing what’s wrong with you.
It’s about remembering the truth that’s always been right there - beneath the noise, beneath the programming - a quiet path of authentic self discovery waiting to be remembered.
So let’s pick up where we left off.
If life feels like it’s become a marathon for crumbs of joy, it’s not because you’re broken.
It’s because you’ve been living with your power cord half unplugged.
From the outside, you look functional, job, family, the occasional spiritual podcast to prove you’re “working on yourself.”
But inside, there’s static.
A low-grade hum that never turns off.
That hum is what I call a Power Leak, the energy you lose every time your subconscious whispers: “It’s safer to stay small.”
Most of us have been leaking power since before we could spell our own names.
Picture yourself at seven years old.
You’re wearing something with too many ruffles (or like me, not enough). You’ve just said something honest, something that made sense to your little heart, and an adult’s face tightens.
Maybe they say, “Don’t be dramatic.”
Maybe it’s just that sigh, the one that says, “Good girls shouldn’t do that.”
And right there, a contract gets signed. Not in ink, in nervous-system energy. “It’s not safe to be me.”
That new belief is a spell, and we’ll be talking more about spells as we spend more time together. It’s the ground-breaking perspective of one of my favorite mentors Brian D Ridgway.
Spells got stitched into your body like invisible tattoos.
Now, every time you reach toward something new, money, love, freedom, your body hits the panic button:
“Danger! Too exposed! Retreat!”
Here’s where it gets sneaky: your nervous system doesn’t care if something feels good.
It only cares if it feels familiar.
So you keep finding yourself in the same job that drains you, the same arguments that make you feel ten years old again, the same half-baked dreams you never quite chase.
Not because you’re weak.
Not because you’re unmotivated.
Because your brain equates repetition with survival.
It’s not a moral failing, it’s just neurochemistry with a lousy sense of adventure.
We arrived on this planet as radiant little beings, fearless, curious, fully charged.
Then we learned to contort ourselves to fit. To belong. To survive.
But underneath all that conditioning, your original light is untouched.
Brian calls it the white fractal light of being, pure love before the story began.
I call it your Authentic Power, the spark that never actually went out, even if you forgot where you stored the matches.
You don’t need another self-help book or a list of affirmations taped to your bathroom mirror.
You just need to stop mistaking the noise for the truth and remember who’s been driving this whole damn time.
Let’s zoom out for a minute.
Every second, your brain is bombarded with about 400 billion bits of information.
It filters that down to roughly 2000 bits, the tiny slice of reality it decides is relevant.
That filter is what I call your Reality Tunnel.
When you’re leaking power, when your subconscious is running one of those old “it’s not safe to…” programs, those 2000 bits get hijacked by fear, guilt, and survival instincts.
It’s like living with an outdated antivirus program that keeps flagging your joy as a threat.
Plug even one of those leaks and the bandwidth opens.
You start noticing synchronicities, opportunities, connections that were always there.
Life doesn’t suddenly become easy, you just stop blocking the flow.
Plugging a Power Leak isn’t about white-knuckling your thoughts or bulldozing your emotions.
It’s about attention.
Start noticing where your energy drains out:
The people you over-give to because you’re scared they’ll leave.
The inner monologue that talks you out of your own desires.
The guilt that isn’t even yours but you carry like a family heirloom.
Every time you notice a leak, you reclaim a little voltage. Every time you breathe instead of brace, you remind your body it’s safe now. This is emotional healing in real time - not dramatic, just gentle neurological retraining.
Here’s your experiment for the week:
When you feel that old hum of anxiety, pause and ask:
“What is it about this that feels unsafe? Is there something about this situation that reminds me of something from my kidhood?”
Then breathe.
Let your shoulders drop two inches.
Let the body learn a new definition of safety, one that includes joy, expansion, and possibility.
And here’s your Quantum Question to play with:
“What if nothing about me was ever unsafe to begin with?”
Sit with that. Let it begin to scramble the programming.
If this message landed somewhere between your rib cage and your gut, it’s because part of you remembers.
You’re already home, you just need to open your eyes.
Your YOU-Turn was created for exactly this moment, the one where you realize you’re done managing your leaks and ready to reclaim your current.
Inside, you’ll find an eye opening perspective, simple tools and short practices to help you recognize conditioning when it shows up, rewire your nervous system for truth, and build the kind of power that doesn’t depend on permission. It's my gift to you!
1. What does “leaking power” mean in spirituality?
Leaking power means unconsciously giving away your energy through fear, guilt, or people-pleasing patterns that keep you small and disconnected from your true self.
2. How can I recognize my own power leaks?
Notice where you feel drained, relationships suck, self-talk is unkind, you control the f#ck out of everything and everyone, and/or you're stuck in a constant over-giving loop. Each moment you choose truth over fear, you begin plugging those leaks.
3. How do I start reclaiming my authentic power?
Start by becoming aware when you're doing that sh!t and ask gentle questions like, “What if nothing about me was ever unsafe to begin with?” Awareness begins the healing.
You don’t need more light, You just need fewer leaks.
